Description
The beginnings of the mating ritual of a pair of Imperial moths. Their joining can last up to twelve hours. In fact this pair went for longer, closer to sixteen hours of being joined together. When the female emerges and is ready, she sends out pheromones that can be detected up to a mile away. She has about one week to attract a male. This image is at the beginning around 4:30 am and continued until dusk (8:30 - 9 pm). They should get gold medals...
Very large moth with wingspans between 3 - 6 inches give or take. Adults do not eat. They will die in a period of days after the mating. They exist to mate and produce new life and so the cycle begins anew.
